WE NEED YOUR HELP
To all our dedicated listeners:
Firstly, thank you all so much for your support. Since its release in late September 2024, the Faking Michael podcast series has had almost 200,000 streams across 80 countries, and has received hundreds of 5-star ratings and reviews. We are truly humbled by the response of our listeners.
Now, we need your help!
The podcast awards season is approaching, and we’d like the major awards shows to consider Faking Michael for nomination.
But submitting a podcast to be considered for nomination isn’t free.
As you may be aware, we have not monetised the Faking Michael podcast in any way. There are no ads, no subscription fees and no paywall costs to listen. We are thrilled to have been able to publish our 14 years of research for free, and wouldn’t change that for the world. But the lack of monetisation means we don’t have a budget for award show nomination submissions.
That’s where our listeners can help!
We will be accepting donations to help us raise the necessary funds to submit Faking Michael for nomination at a number of forthcoming award shows. It is our hope that being nominated alongside the other great true crime podcasts of 2024 will help our work to gain the recognition that many of you—our dedicated listeners—have told us it deserves! Furthermore, award show nominations would help put Faking Michael on the map in the true crime community, which would mean wider reach, bigger listenership and more people learning about the greatest fraud in music history.

Thanks to the outpouring of generosity from our listeners, we've already been able to make submissions to The Ambies, Peabody Awards, and The Webby Awards! This means Faking Michael will be assessed by a panel of judges at each respective awards ceremony, who'll decide whether we receive a nomination. We could not have made these submissions without your help!
We have submitted to be considered for the following awards:
Best True Crime Podcast and Best Production/Sound Design at The Ambies
Best Documentary Podcast at the Peabody Awards
Best Crime & Justice Podcast (limited series) at The Webby Awards
We would also like to submit Faking Michael to be considered for nomination at the People's Choice Awards in 2024. The British Podcast Awards and Australian Podcast Awards are also on our radar for submissions in 2025 (Dan is based in Britain and Damien in Australia).
Once again, we are truly humbled by the response of our listeners since the release of Faking Michael, and appreciate any help you can offer in our quest for our hard work to be recognised. No amount is too great or too small—every cent is greatly valued.
Best regards,
Damien and Dan

P.S. Donations can also be made as an expression of your appreciation for the 14 years of hard work that went into investigating and producing Faking Michael, or to support us in our mission to continue reporting and promoting this story. The next phase of the Faking Michael project will include a book version (which is currently being written), and potentially a documentary film. Your donations will help us pursue those ventures.
